A longtime curious adventurer, I once stood at the confluence of the Rio Negro and the Solimões rivers in Brazil. Because the properties of the waters are so different, they don’t immediately blend together. Instead, for miles, black water runs alongside mineral-infused tan water. Eventually, the two converge to form the Amazon, the largest river on the planet.
When creating Confluescent, this was the image that came to mind. Something powerful happens when multiple perspectives come together. I’m exhilarated by weaving together ideas that appear disparate on the surface to create something more profound. So often, it’s the unexpected ingredient that amplifies value. And together these ideas are more catalytic because the sum is greater than its parts.
